Prayer Journal

12.1

Prayers are powerful and God’s faithfulness is awesome!

This a prayer journal so that we can share how you can best pray for our family and the communities in Cape Town. It is also a journal to record God’s answers to these prayers and give Him glory. God is up to something in Ocean View and Masi, so be prepared to watch Him work!

“For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” Matthew 7:8

November and December gifts

Posted by on December 31, 2014 in prayer blog | 0 comments

November was full. We wrapped up a very busy season and as a staff took some time to examine the direction of where we wanted to take Ubuntu in 2015. We had a huge planning meeting and have been busy implementing new organizational tools and plans for the upcoming here. Our boys finished the year strong with a new study support program that was put in place too. November brought a visit from Melissa’s mom and time together to regroup as a family. December brought both joy and sadness as one of our Ubuntu boys lost his father. As we look...

September and October Updates

Posted by on November 4, 2014 in prayer blog | 0 comments

Well, now…September brought great joy with Grace turning 11! October brought Ubuntu trials and we added 19 new players to our Academy and one of our newest coaches, Coach Sahkele, accepted Christ. September also brought an awful sickness to Erik and me as well as a staph infection to Grace and 7 stitches for Vusumzi. October tried to one up September with Erik having a chronic eye infection and a broken arm. We are tired. We are actually exhausted and ready for a bit of rest as the season comes to a close. But we are also...

August blues…

Posted by on August 25, 2014 in prayer blog | 0 comments

August has probably been one of the hardest months but also a month full of growth for our family. This month we hit a low of missing family and friends as well as summer and sunshine! We had lots of prayers and notes that definitely warmed our hearts and the low times were the times when we really felt like God was asking us to press into Him. Personally, we have found strength in God’s word as we set out as a family to read the bible in a year. We have learned to extend more grace to one another and pray more. We are finding our...

June and July have been full! We said goodbye to our Oral Roberts University team in June as well as Coach Matt. They brought energy and love to our boys. We had 3 boys get baptized and more and more are coming to our bible study Fridays. Our girls program is finding roots and growing and we have a friend coming to help with dental needs this month. Our prayers have been faithfully answered to minister and care for these boys and now girls! Our Academy house renovation is in full swing and prayers for wisdom on the project are needed. We need...

May Madness

Posted by on June 2, 2014 in prayer blog | 0 comments

May has been busy! Prayers were answered in Ocean View. We have been granted use of the turf field at the community center again which is a big deal for our Football Forward program. We have a new Xhosa speaking coach for our Masi Football Forward program while Thomas takes a break. We are slowly making progress with the Academy house. We still need prayers for more donations and resources to make the renovations are reality. We also need prayers for energy and strength as our days are busy and long. The weather here is turning cold and we...

April was a “Needy” month

Posted by on May 2, 2014 in prayer blog | 0 comments

April was a frustrating month here and a month that has been full of obstacles. We experienced car challenges, resource challenges, and school challenges. We are homeschooling now and need prayers for patience, wisdom, and balance with home life and ministry life. Ubuntu lost its use of the community field in Ocean View where we run our FF program and our Masi FF coach needed to take some time away to focus on other areas of his life. We need prayers for the logistics of field use and space and we need a Xhosa speaking coach for our Xhosa...

February Love

Posted by on February 18, 2014 in prayer blog | 0 comments

More so than any other time we have been here, we have felt loved. Loved by people back home, loved by people here, loved by God. This month brought challenges with injuries (Jax and his knee injury and Grace’s sliced finger) but God saw us through it all and everyone is ok. This month brought doubt but God reminded us with encouragement from friends, family, and followers that He is in control and He has it all in his hands. Our prayers for protection are being answered with Jax, Grace, and Vusumzi. Our prayers for provision are being...

January Joy…

Posted by on February 7, 2014 in prayer blog | 0 comments

We have had so many answers to prayers and I love putting it all down here because we can go back and really see God’s handiwork! We all arrived here safely…even Tessa! We have been in a great house to transition and settle which has been a huge blessing as rental properties are extremely difficult to find. Vusumzi has joined our family and we are all adjusting well to having an extra person in our lives. School has started out great for Jax, Grace, and Vusumzi. We have found vehicles that allow us to be where we need to be for...

December Gifts

Posted by on December 5, 2013 in prayer blog | 0 comments

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. James 1:17 If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! Matthew 7:11 God is AWESOME! He has blessed us beyond our wildest dreams. I think the biggest blessing is getting a glimpse of just how big and loving He truly is. We started November with 42% of our fundraising and ended November with 80%...

Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. Matthew 7:7-8 God has been working for us this last month! We had month full of great get togethers with friends and supporters. We had an awesome garage sale with a huge turnout of donations and lots of shoppers! We started the month of October with 10% of our fundraising goal and we ended the month with 42% of our fundraising goal! We...
